It is completely unacceptable that this Tory government is raiding the retirement incomes of thousands of Sellafield workers - Clive Lewis
Clive Lewis MP, Labour’s Shadow Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, commenting on the pensions dispute at Sellafield, said:
“It is completely unacceptable that this Tory government is raiding the retirement incomes of thousands of Sellafield workers for the second time. These workers have already been forced on to far less generous schemes, and now the Government is coming after them again. The grounds for doing so are completely bogus – the pension fund is in full financial health and does not fall under public sector pension reform.
“This is a cynical attempt by the Government to save money by picking the pockets of British workers, and we are completely behind their fight for fairness. The government should stop these cuts immediately, and return to talks.
“For all her warm words on standing up for ordinary people, Theresa May’s Tories are leaving workers worse off.”
